The slate isn’t wiped clean on January 1st

Hello & Happy New Year!

Well this year really didn’t start off how I thought it might. Having completed my most recent training and certification in SIT (Subconscious Imprinting Technique) I expected to hit the ground running with practice building this month. Welp, instead, I hit the Knox mountain trails running, slipped on the mud and broke my ankle!
Wow, what a pain, literally and figuratively. Actually I had very minimal pain and even finished my run before the pain set in hours later. Lucky for me the fracture was not serious and I was back walking within 10 days. What can I say, I’m bionic! lol not really, it was just that minimal.

Welcome to my newly branded business, RevelaSoma, all things Somatic Therapy.

I hope you stick around and learn about what I have to offer, because I think it’s pretty amazing. And if it’s been a while, and you have no idea what I’m up to now, keep reading or check out the rest of my new website at revelasoma.com.

RevelaSoma = To reveal what’s being held onto by the body

What is Somatic Therapy & What the heck is SIT?

In essence, Somatic therapy is the art of listening to the body in order to bypass the thinking mind (ego).

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, it may depend on your algorithm, but “Somatic” is the newest buzz word in the healing world. But working with the body is nothing new for me. However, I do have new tools! (That’s where SIT comes in).

Somatics

We’re used to trying to “think” our way out of stress or old patterns, but the body is where those patterns actually live, tight jaw, clenched belly, frozen shoulders, chronic aches and pains, hidden memories, all of it.

In somatic work, we slow things right down and pay attention to the nervous system. Instead of forcing change, we create safety so your body can release tension, complete stress cycles, and reset. “Reveal - Release - Restore” - it’s my tag line. This might look like gentle guided awareness, focused breathing, or hands-on techniques like craniosacral, Access Bars or SER (SomatoEmotional Release), depending on what your system responds to.

The goal isn’t to fix you because you’re not broken. It’s to help your body remember how to regulate, so you feel more grounded, clear, connected, and actually in yourself. When your body shifts, your mind follows, and that’s why somatic therapy works, while talking alone sometimes hits a wall.

 January Vibes

January arrives with a bang, quite literally!

But what it’s not is a clean slate. Your body doesn’t reset on January 1st, it carries everything it’s learned, everything it’s endured, and everything it hasn’t had space to process, from the entire last year and all the time before that.

January at RevelaSoma is about orientation. Slowing down enough to notice where you actually are, not where you think you should be. And what better way to do that than break your ankle, right? lol I don’t recommend it 😉

What’s happening beneath the surface

January often brings pressure disguised as motivation. Resolutions, goals, improvement plans, all very mental, very forward-focused. For many nervous systems, this creates tension, fatigue, or low-grade anxiety rather than clarity.

From a clinical perspective, stress lives in the body when experiences aren’t fully processed. Even “successful” years can leave residue, tightness, shallow breathing, irritability, emotional numbness, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

A somatic perspective

Somatic therapy works with the nervous system directly, rather than asking you to think your way out of stress.

At RevelaSoma, I offer Subconscious Imprinting Technique (SIT), a gentle, body-based approach that supports regulation, resilience, and reconnection. Sessions focus on increasing your capacity to notice sensations, complete stress responses, and restore a sense of internal safety.

This isn’t about fixing you, I can’t do that. It’s about deeply listening to what your body has been trying to communicate, and acknowledging it.

If you’re curious, my website is now live with more information about somatic therapy, SIT, and what to expect in a session. Online booking is open, and sessions are available both in-person and virtually.

A moment to notice

Take 30 seconds right now:

  • Where does your body feel most present?

  • Where does it feel distant, tight, or quiet?

No need to change anything. Noticing is the work.

A gentle invitation

If your nervous system is asking for support this year, you’re welcome to book a session through the website. And if this resonates but isn’t for you personally, feel free to pass this along to someone who might benefit from somatic support. You are my best advertising and I want to help as many people as I can. Don’t keep me a secret. 🤗

This work unfolds slowly, and that’s intentional.
